As always, the historic US business magazine Forbes publishes its ranking of the 10 artists (from the worlds of music, entertainment and film) who earned the most money in the previous year.
The ranking for 2022 was published at the end of February 2023 and also includes five personalities (or groups) from the world of music.
To compile this ranking, Forbes obtained the financial information from various sources, including managers and music producers. The final figures are gross and do not include taxes, expenses and private transactions. Here are the musicians who earned the most in 2022.

5. Bad Bunny ($88 million)
For the first time, Bad Bunny enters the list of artists with the highest earnings in a single year. The rapper came close to 90 million in revenue thanks to his two sold-out tours everywhere. In addition, Bad Bunny signed two rich endorsement deals with Corona and Adidas.
4. Taylor Swift ($92 million)
Every year, Taylor Swift features in this chart thanks to the substantial income from the physical and digital sales of her records, but also thanks to her entrepreneurial activities. In 2023, the figures are set to rise: the singer-songwriter is embarking on a very long tour whose tickets sold out everywhere in no time.
3. The Rolling Stones ($98 million)
The Stones' music continues to bring in a lot of money, but what's also driving Jagger and co. into the charts is the revenue from the 2022 tour. By now, almost everyone also knows that the band is in the throes of producing a new unreleased album: in all likelihood, this will result in even higher earnings in 2023...
2. Sting ($210 million)
Sting also takes second place in the overall ranking of the richest entertainers of 2022 according to Forbes. The former member of The Police owes most of his income to the sale of his entire music catalogue, both solo and with his former group, to Universal Music Group.
1. Genesis ($230 million)
In the ranking (both for musicians alone and for performing artists in general), somewhat surprisingly we find Genesis at the top. Again, most of the proceeds in 2022 came from the sale of the music catalogue, which was sold to the Concord Music Group. A good result for the band, although unfortunately Phil Collins is currently struggling with a worsening health condition.
